Year 13 Construction and Materials Technology (Level 3)
Subject Description

Level 3 Construction and Materials Technology encourages students to respond to real-world problems.
Students undertake independent briefs and have explored a range of contexts in the past including sustainability, products for children, performance wear, and inclusive design.
This course aims to teach product development and empower students to produce innovative, sustainable and individual technological solutions.
Level 3 Construction and Materials Technology students have the opportunity to intergrade Makerspace facilities into their projects and are encouraged to use equipment such as laser cutters and vinyl cutters to enhance their project.
A great choice for any students wanting to build portfolio for design courses at tertiary level.

Undertake a brief to address an issue within a determined context.
Develop a conceptual design considering fitness for purpose in the broadest sense
Term 2
Implement complex procedures to process a specified product.
Term 3
Implement complex procedures to process a specified product (Continued)
External- Undertake a critique of a technological outcome’s design
Prerequisites
Students need to have succeeded in Level 1 Construction and Materials Technology as a minimum. Level 2 Construction and Materials Technology is highly recommended.
Discretionary entry will be offered by the Head of Faculty.
Pathway
Level 3 Construction and Materials Technology Achievement Standards are accredited under Technology as a recognised University Entrance subject. Learning for senior students opens pathways that can lead to technology-related careers. Students may access workplace learning opportunities in a range of industries to move on to further specialised tertiary study.

Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded these subjects as part of the requirement for 14 credits in each of three subjects.
