Subject Overview
Term 1
Students begin by exploring a variety of options for their work before developing an individual concept that will sustain them for the year. They begin investigating this idea through photography and developing ideas by exploring a variety of established practice. Building upon the learning of photographic conventions taught in Year 12, students will work on location and/or in the school studio.
Term 2
Students continue to develop their ideas independently and are encouraged to explore a wide variety of photography processes and art-making convention for their photographic investigation. Established practice should continue to guide their systematic body of work, assisted by regular discussions with their teacher.
Term 3
The focus in Term 3 is for students to extend and clarify their ideas as they work towards the presentation of the 3-panel folio board. Self-management of time, regular discussions with the teacher about their process and wide and varied experimentation is key to student success.
Term 4
Students finalise their layout before arranging their own professional printing and then present their submission for external submission.
Prerequisites
Preference will be given to students who have achieved 12 credits in NCEA Level 2 Photography.
