Year 13 Health Education (Level 3)
Subject Description
Head of Faculty: Ms T. Price.
This course is theory based and focuses heavily on the underlying health concepts - Hauora, Socio-Ecological perspective, Attitudes and Values, and Health Promotion.
Students have a choice of a range of topics that they want to discuss for each of their assessments where they can find topics they are most passionate about.

Health Practices - Western Scientific Medicine vs Traditional and Alternative Medicines.
Term 2
Ethical Issues and Dilemmas
Term 3
NZ Health Issue - Childhood Poverty
Term 4
International Health Issues - Poverty around the world.
Prerequisites
It is helpful but not necessary to have completed the Year 12 Health Education course.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
ESA Level 3 Study guide is highly recommended.

Students who take Level 3 Health may have an interest in tertiary studies towards: Medicine, Nursing, Social work Nutritionist/Food Science, Health promotion, Counselling and Mental Health, Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Health Sciences, Bachelor of Social Work/wellbeing, Bachelor of Psychology (Majoring in Mental Health), Bachelor of Science (majoring in Nutrition) Exercise and Health Science and more.
