Year 12 Health Education (Level 2)

Subject Description

The Year 12 Health course is theory based with classes full of discussions as well as many and varied scenarios that enable students to complete notes and the worksheets to create a full and comprehensive understanding of all the key concepts.

Subject Overview

Term 1
Review of the under lying concepts of health.
Resilience and managing change.

Term 2
Issues related to gender and sexuality learning and assessment. The focus is on the messaging and stereotypes portrayed in and through the media to society and its impact on the whole of NZ society.

Term 3
Health Promotion. All term, working in groups towards enhancing the Hauora of our junior members of Baradene. Individually assessed.

Prerequisites

It is helpful, but not necessary to have completed the Year 11 Health Education course.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

ESA Level 2 Study guide is recommended - but not compulsory to purchase.

Pathway

Students who take Level 2 Health may have an interest in tertiary studies towards: Medicine, Nursing, Social work Nutritionist/Food Science, Health promotion, Counselling and Mental Health, Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Health sciences, Bachelor of Social Work/wellbeing, Bachelor of Psychology (majoring in Mental Health), Bachelor of Science (majoring in Nutrition) Exercise and Health Science and more.
