Year 11 Mathematics

Subject Description

Year 11 Mathematics

A full year Mathematics course is compulsory in Year 11 at Baradene College.

All students will choose to study:

  • Year 11 Mathematics.
  • Year 11 Mathematics Towards Calculus.
  • Year 12 NCEA Level 2 Mathematics towards Calculus. If the student has completed the NCEA Level 1 (Year 11) Mathematic course in Year 10, they will enter the NCEA Level 2 Mathematics towards Calculus course.

Year 11 Mathematics

 This is a general Mathematics course that that studies a wide range of topics including: 

  • Algebra (fundamentals) 
  • Right-angle triangles
  • Statistics (Bivariate and Multivariate data) 
  • Probability
  • Numeric Reasoning
  • Financial Literacy

This course is suited to students who have gained mostly Achieved and Merit grades in Year 9 and Year 10 Mathematics.

It will prepare students to move into Level 2 Mathematics Towards Calculus (providing prerequisite grades are met) and/or Level 2 Mathematics Towards Statistics.
